The Kansas Blackboard Users Group is a new organization in the state dedicated to furthering the improved use of Blackboard in both K-12 and post-secondary education. Recently, the organization held its spring meeting where participants were able to see and experience the new upcoming Blackboard version 6, scheduled for release later this year. Mark Kourchin from Blackboard was on hand to show off this incredible new upgrade.
Joseph Mau
Dr. Joseph Mau uses Blackboard to enhance his Administration and School Psychology courses. Students access online PowerPoint presentations and online quizzes. He also uses a discussion board and the built-in chat room to facilitate student communication. Dr. Mau also makes extensive use of Blackboard's survey tool for which he collects data. He uses this data to measure the effectiveness of these technology enhancements.
Sociological Imagination
Jan Hansen from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, offers her Sociological Imagination Teleweb course using a combination of videotapes and Web. Jan's course was developed by the college that also develops the Telecourse - Dallas County Community Colleges. Using the Blackboard 5 system, the course content is transferred to our servers at WSU. This combination of Telecourses and Web is slowly gaining popularity over the traditional Telecourses.
Global Learning Symposium
Global learning is the combination of global reach, using modern communication technologies, with global perspectives, achieved by having students and faculty interact with their counterparts in other cultures, to produce the global graduate.
